NEW ORLEANS — Hundreds of athletes vied for national glory this past weekend at the NAIA Indoor Track & Field Championships in Johnson City, Tennessee.

When the dust settled, only a handful captured individual and relay championships, while the team titles went to the Indiana Tech men for the third consecutive year and the women from Wayland Baptist (Texas).

On Tuesday, the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) looked back at the meet and picked out those athletes deserving of All-America honors. To be named All-American, an athlete must have finished among the top-8 in their events, which included relay teams.

By virtue of their championship, you’d figure the Warriors had the most All-America nods — and you’d be correct in that assumption. Indiana Tech led all men’s teams with 23 honors, four more than Wayland Baptist (19).

The Warrios also had three athletes earn three All-America honors — Harris Edwards III, John Hester andDeshawn Woods. In total, there were nine men with three each.

On the women’s side, Doane (Neb.) owned the meet with 20 All-Americans. Indiana Tech took home 16, while Aquinas (Mich.) and champion Wayland Baptist secured 15 each.

Ten women were three-time All-Americans, led by two athletes from Indiana Tech (Tia Cooper/Brianna Woods) and Wayland Baptist (Alexis Browner/Rochene Smith).
