Wolken, Murphy Win Titles; Tigers Sit In 1st Place

The second day of the NAIA Indoor Track and Field National Championships provided more excitement surrounding the Doane men's and women's squads. The Doane women secured three points on Day Two and are second in the NAIA standings with 26 team points through six events. The men had a big day, scoring 30 points and are tied for 1st place in the team standings through six events.

On the men's side, Kale Wolken (SR/Tecumseh, Neb.) successfully defended his heptathlon title as he won his third straight crown. He finished with a two-day total of 5,396 points as he finished in the top 3 in six of the seven events contested.

Adding personal best marks in the heptathlon were Kyle Gaston (JR/McCook, Neb.) and Justin Castellanos (SR/Baldwin Park, Calif.). Gaston posted 4,784 points and placed sixth overall. Castellanos took eighth place overall with 4,766 points as the duo joined Wolken on the podium for NAIA All-American honors. Michael Lucas(JR/Sterling, Neb.) placed 13th with 4,406 points.
